Chapter 20: Foggy Train Station
[Kazai's perspective]
I walked into the alleyway, and I found something that seems to be a cat. It has a collar with the name tag "Kimazura's pet". Maybe I could give it to Katasu.
I picked up the cat, ran to Katasu and told her "Can you give this to Kimazura? Thanks!" and ran away.
I tried inspecting the alleyway more, and I found a crack on the floor. It revealed to a secret underground base, which seems to be abandoned... I got down there, and it's so dark here. Luckily, I still have a flashlight.
I inspected a computer first. It won't turn on. There's a door with some light here. It leads to a foggy train station. Seems creepy, like a liminal space here. There's still a door ba- Oh, it's gone!
Luckily the door was just invisible. I pointed it out by accidentally slamming myself into an invisible wall. I almost thought I'd get trapped here for eternity.
I'm curious though, how does this lead to a foggy train station? And it's kinda cold here, I need to zip up my jackets.
I see a wheat field in the distance, but that photo of 2 missing children has a sunny wheat field. I'll go walk in that wheat field first... And wow, it's a really strange place.
It's a relaxing place, so I suppose I'll stay here for a while. Cold places are the best places! I walked really far and eventually I noticed something on the ground. A piece of yellow fabric, which seems to come from a linen skirt. I should use my flashlight to inspect more on the ground though.
And, I found a ripped page from a drawing notebook. It's a drawing of someone. Tall, wears a coat, a detective hat, and round glasses. That looks like a kid drew it. Kinda cute, though! That moment when a kid draws better than you...
I shouldn't get lost here. Luckily I made a fire mark on the invisible door so I can see the door. That's when I randomly realized that cats can see in the dark and I didn't have to buy a flashlight for Katasu. I looked at my smart watch, and it's still midnight out there.
This place is foggy, I can barely see what's going on here. I then stumbled upon a laptop on a floor, showing the message "ANOMALY" with a famillar song from a game. Unfortunately it's removed, I really love that song but that chart was a bit annoying. I should probably bring the laptop with me as well, if it isn't considered stealing...
And soon enough I got outside of the wheat fields. Everything slowly got dark, and I got into a really famillar street. It was the same street as Zach's house and the Soritsu Cliff, and I see the alley that I got into. I tried to get in the basement again, and checked the door, it's the same place. I placed a note at the door. The door has the fire mark, too. Without hesitation, I ran back as fast as I could, and I managed to go back to the invisible door. I opened the door, and there's a note. I got upstairs from the basement and it's the same streetz but no foggy wheat fields. I should've brung Haku with me, since he really likes quiet places.
Let me think of something real quick; how did that door lead to that strange place? And how did the wheat fields lead to the street even though I ran back at the Soritsu Cliff, and I didn't get there?
I should make a note about it. I still have the drawing of the tall guy, so I need to figure out who he is. He wears a mask, too! It's cute!!!!
Anyways, I should inspect the foggy train station more.
I walked back to the foggy train station. A train just arrived. I got in the train, and the train driver appears to be Ms. Kanoka's missing Lothonian friend, Esche Xawion.. As I remember, Kanoka used to go everywhere in Naiko to find him. She said luckily it's not Sawadane that's missing.
Esche recognized me. He said "Kazai, uh, how did you get here?" I replied to him "I randomly found this place. Where does this train lead to?" Esche replied "It just leads to a portal. I don't know the place behind the portal, though. 2 people are required to be in the train to get in the portal.
He started to drive the train to the portal, and the train disappears. We got into a famillar street, which is... The same street. The world behind us disappeared.
Esche walks away, saying "So this is Utoko. I'll get a taxi to return to Naiko. Finally, I'm home."
And I wonder if the foggy train station really disappeared. I got back there again, and instead of being a plain walkway with a train station, it's filled with grass. And the door now appears visible.
I quickly got back, so I can get back to sitting down on a bench. I'll investigate this place later.
Aw damn, my glasses got all foggy.
