[Chapter 28: Midnight Wanderer]

"It's really cold here, Isn't it?"

"Brrr... It's really cold."

"Here, have a coat."

It's midnight now. There's two people sitting on top of a high building with an old lantern.

"How did we get here, though?"

"I tried to drag you to safety when a group of villains approached and attacked us when you were sleeping.. What time is it now?"

"Hmm… From that clock tower, it seems to be midnight. I'm lucky that Mom teached me to read clocks."

It's snowing a lot. The streetlights are off, and there are barely any people driving home. The 2 girls, wearing monochrome style clothes, are just looking around… Wondering how they can get back home.

They are just lost children without any powers. They got down from the building, and wandered around the place. "There might still be someone who could help us, Rona."

"But, Nora, how can we get back to our house?"

"Rona, we don't have a house, so this might be a nice place to live. Luckily we didn't lose our belongings."

"Nora… Are we all gonna die here?" Rona tries to hug Nora.

"Hopefully not. There seems to be some cars there, maybe we can knock on it and they'll let us in." Nora knocked on the car door.

"Mmmm… Hello?" Satora accidentally fell asleep on the driver's seat. 

"Hey, we need some place to live. Can you let us in for a while?"

"S-sure thing! I'm just half asleep right now."

Nora coughs. "I'm so hungry…" Rona sits down on one of the seats in the limousine. Satora hands Rona some protein bars and water. "Maybe this would help you replenish your hunger for now."

Satora then went back to sleep. "I regret sleeping on the driver's seat, this seems a bit uncomfortable…"

Rona looks outside. There wasn't a crystal on the statue that she used to see everyday. She couldn't see the beautiful, shining crystal.

"Umm… What's your name, uh, white-haired girl?"

"Name's Satora, nice to meet you!"

"Um, Satora, why is the crystal on the statue gone?" Rona was panicking.

"I don't know yet, but it might be snatched by someone. We're trying to retrieve it."

"Can I… Can I join you?"

"Hmmm… Sure! Just don't cause any trouble."

Rona and Nora cheered, because they finally found a place to live after years. "Anyways, my name's Rona, and the girl next to me is Nora!"

"What a cute name! I think you'll go well with the others!"

"Thanks!"

Satora checks her bag. Her bullets for the "void musket" are still here, and she thought she had used all of them.

Kinato is still awake in the mobile hallways, taking care of a mysterious flower in her pot. Kinato's learned really much about plants and potion making, but the plant isn't known by much, so she tried to research it. She walks outside and finds Rona and Nora. Kinato was slightly surprised, but she welcomed the children into the hallways. There's some empty rooms that Zach has prepared for allies. Rona and Nora listen closely, and there's something strange, but they try to ignore it.

They enter the unoccupied room. "Yay! They have a bed here too!" cheered Rona.

Meanwhile, Kinato writes in her book. 
[I might not be the only one who has this flower, but it's interesting. I don't really want to ask anyone about it. Smells really nice, the flower glows in the dark and there's no sounds in the flowers. The bugs aren't infesting on this flower, I wonder why… Is this poisonous?]


They look at the midnight sky. The moon is shining bright. The car is currently near the lake. Satora goes outside and decides to look at the lake. "It's relaxing." She wonders, will the crystals ever be reobtained? She doubts it, but she saw something glowing in the lake. She tries to pick it up.


It seems to be a glowing crystal, but not big enough to fit in the statue. It's a necklace.


Satora decides to wear it, but nothing happens. She decides to keep it as a lucky charm.


She doesn't know where she is, but she can see the statue from not far away. She looks around, in case some enemies are going to attack.


In Katasu's room, Katasu is still opening their laptop, and suddenly, the laptop runned a program.


[Hello again…]

[Specane?]

[I told you, my name is not Specane.]

[What's up?]

[About the crystals, I'm really terrified about the sudden disappearance of them. If it's gone, I will eventually be gone someday. I'm scared…]


Katasu responded [Why?]


[I need to confess. I'm one of the spirit guardians. I'm currently trying to hug one of my descendants so I can stay longer… When the crystals are gone, I'm weak.]

[What about Natoruyo? Why isn't he fading away?]

[...I'm the one who lasts the shortest without crystals.]

[I can't really help you, sorry, but why did your personality suddenly change?]

[A different person was talking with you that day. He's just telling you what feels like nonsense…]

[Notice] Discontinutation of Monochrome Blankness ('s current storyline)

I'm really sorry, everyone, if there is even anyone who reads my stuff. I wish to discontinue this novel project of mine due to a lot of reasons. Some of those reasons include me wishing to pursue further knowledge on game development, and to improve on my writing. I felt like the pacing of the chapters was way too fast, and the storywriting's quality is poor, which resulted in me being in an art block.  I also want to spend my time doing what I love, and maybe I'll come back to love writing again. It's up to your own interpretation on how the story ends, and I'll continue writing Side Stories or Extra Chapters here and then. Well, just so you know, Ambroise and Kazai are alive and well! From now on, I will be adding date and time to the chapters I write. It's gonna be a different story, yet I'll continue it in the universe that I built with love and care.
