Extra Chapter 1: Meriku Kitsuri

[Extra Chapter 1: Meriku Kitsuri]

It's December 25 2024, and 7AM.

Kasuri is just walking alone on Street N17 on a snowy day, while humming a song. Her mother is going shopping, so she decided to wander around by herself.

She stumbles upon a young female cat-human, who seems to be 10 years old, just like her. Her hair is blue, and she was hugging herself in the cold, because her clothes were thin, and she couldn't get any money to buy a sweater, not even a thin blanket for her to sleep on the streets.

Kasuri pitied the poor girl that she had to sleep on the streets, even though she hasn't been in her shoes, Kasuri knew how painful it was to have a life like that. She wanted to help everyone she could.

She looked at the cat-human in curiosity, and asked; "Do you need a jacket?"

The cat-human was shivering in the cold, so she could barely respond. Due to her shy nature, she thought to refuse at first, but after thinking that Kasuri was offering her a jacket, she responded with just a simple nod. Kasuri took off her jacket, and gave it to the cat-human. The cat-human, though, doesn't know how to use the zip.

Her, now with at least some warmth, nervously smiles with a hint of happiness, as if she didn't even manage to get any warmth for several years. Kasuri smiled back, because she helped someone. It wasn't the least she could do, but that wasn't the most either. The cat-person stood up, and it was shown that her clothes were badly damaged, and it looked like it was torn. The girl is starving.

"What's your name?" Kasuri asked, she wanted to befriend the poor girl and take care of her.

The girl, still shy, quietly shows her Mokkato ID card to Kasuri.

Her name was Meriku Kitsuri, and today was her birthday. Nobody gave her a birthday cake, not even a candle.

"And… W-who are you?"

"I'm Kasuri Mano… Is today your birthday?"

"Mhm…"

"Follow me, I'll bring you to my apartment."

Kasuri walked to her apartment, and Meriku followed her. Kasuri was the only one who she could trust, and it's really easy to make her trust someone.

Her apartment was warm, and Meriku looked around in surprise. She hasn't been there before, but it looked really well-decorated. Kasuri's mother came home, and Kasuri tried to hide Meriku.

"Kasuri, I'm home? Who did you bring?"

"Mom, I swear I didn't bring anyone inside!"

"I can see the person behind you, you don't need to hide anything, I don't mind you having a lover!"

"Mom, it's not like that, I swear…" She walked a few steps away, showing that Meriku was behind her. "I found her in Street N17, and she was starving. It's also her birthday."

"Oh, that's bad!" Kasuri's mother walked to Meriku. "Child… Do you need any food? Are you hungry?"

Meriku nodded. Kasuri's mother then put 3 plates of steak on the table, one for Kasuri, one for herself, and one for Meriku. "Happy birthday! What's your name?"

"Uh… Meriku Kitsuri."

"That's such a cute name, it really fits you! Enjoy your meal!"

"Th… Thanks!"

They ate the steak together, and Meriku was delightfully surprised. It was really tasty unlike anything she's eaten before. Meriku also notices the cup of milk on the table, and drinks it. She felt really refreshed.

After they finished eating, Kasuri's mother asked; "Do you want her to stay with us?"

Kasuri quickly answered with a "yes", knowing Meriku should have a place to live. Meriku looked at Kasuri, then blushed.

"Uhh… Thanks, Kasuri!"

"You're welcome!" Kasuri hugged Meriku really tight. "Do you feel happier now?"

"Mhm!"

"I'm so glad I can help you, you almost died, and death always makes me cry…"

…And they hugged each other.

The end.
