[Side Story 2, Chapter 5: In Possession of a Devil]

Surprisingly, I woke up in my own apartment. I also woke up earlier than usual… 2 A.M?

The road outside is so bloody…

"Good morning!" Naiko jumped at me when I tried to get up.

"AAAAAHHHH!!! Naiko, don't just come up to me and say that!"

"S-sorry!"

I looked at the statue from the balcony. The crystal hasn't been retrieved yet, maybe…

[My phone vibrated]

Huh? A notification? I never quite get a direct message from anyone, and I also mute group chats.

[azaiK: Kasuri, read the news]

The news? 

[I opened the news app]

Oh my god… more than 10 people died, and more than 30 were severely injured… I'm gonna cry.

Sachi was one of the dead people too. And Miles has gone missing for a long time now. I'm gonna go outside and ask someone about the dead people. I saw 2 young boys who seemed to be best friends. I've met them before, I'm only friends with Chris, dunno about Yuguwa, but he's a bit rude. There are the ones with dark-yellow hair, and the ones with the green and black hair, they're Yuguwa and Chris.

"Hey, what happened last night? I heard gunshot sounds everywhere!" said Yuguwa.

"Maybe they're setting firework festival!" said Chris.

"Good point… But the road is filled with blood. You never got to look downwards?"

"W-wha??? There's… B-blood!"

"I have a plan! We need to get some allies, it would be good if our allies have powers too, since we don't have any! Let's get some boys."

The boys are looking around, for boys? I think that they don't really like girls as their allies.

"Hey, girl. I was gonna make you our ally, but… You look weak." Yuguwa said.

"...Wha?"

"Plus, you look like some introvert who stays in their room most of the time."

"Stop insulting me, or else I'll make you feel like a little, miserable girl. Just like me." I glared at the boy, and pulled out a glowing card. The boy snatched the card and tried to rip it, but he got zapped instead. The card returned to my hand.

"AAAAAAHHHH!!! You have magic???"

"Yeah, of course! An introvert who actually knows how to use magic."

"O-oh god."

"You miserable dumbass."

"We'll let you in the team, don't kill me! Please!"

"Ugh… Fine."

I've finally allied with some boys, it feels weird to not ally with girls. This brown-haired boy is a jerk.

"Anyways, get more allies!"

I ran away from the apartment building and got to the wide walkways. I saw a girl who's sitting behind the food truck. She has cat ears, and blue hair. She's Meriku Kitsuri, and I'm friends with her. Meriku looks cute, though… She's my roommate, but sometimes she likes to sleep on the streets, for some reason.

"Hey, are you okay?"

"…" The girl didn't respond. She's clearly scared! She's eating some chicken skewers right now, and hiding behind the food bus. The girl seems… Traumatized. Did I pronounce it correctly?

"If you're scared, I'm scared too… We're both scared." I think I can't really comfort her.

"W-Who are… you?" The girl spoke. Her voice was way more gentle than mine.

"I'm Kasuri... Kasuri Mano!"

"O-oh, Roommate! I remember now, it's… Been a long time! Hi!"

"Let's form an alliance."

"…"

"Are you okay…?"

"I mean… S-sure."

"Alrighttt!!!"

"...I'm scared, and…" Meriku didn't finish her sentence, but I knew what was the problem. Her clothes were tattered.

"Meriku, take my hand. I'll help you get some clothes."

"Wa-"

We both teleported to my dorm. "Here's some boy's clothes, given by my twin brother, Risuka Mano! "They look good on you, Meriku!"

"T-thanks! I-I like this outfit really much!" 

"Anyways, do you have any powers?"

"..." There was a bit of silence, until a strange sound came in. She has a devil, just like Mr. Rumble Chisa-bird!

The devil looked like herself, it's somehow cute!

"A devil!?" I shouted, and almost ran away.

"It's a bit scary, so I keep it away…"

"It's really cute, just like you! Are you only a bit annoyed by it? I heard most of them are sentient..."

"I'm fond of her. She may be a-annoying."

"It's cute… But can you keep her from me?"

"Alright..." The devil disappeared. "Also, have you seen Naka?"

"Who's Naka?"

"My cousin. She's currently in the p-psych ward"

"Welp, I'll help you find her later! Let's go get some tools."

We both got ourselves some training katanas. My parents said that katanas are dangerous, so I never got a real katana. Here's a list of what we got:

"Let's talk in the café." Meriku said.

"Mmmm… Okay!"

We both walked to the café. Chris and Yuguwa are there.

"I'm Chris!" said the black-green hair boy. "And I'm Yuguwa!" said the yellow-haired boy. "Who's that besides you? She looks cute!"

"Her name is Meriku, and I'm Kasuri!" Meriku is wearing a hat, and her hair is shorter, so some people would think she's a boy!

"Cute name!" Chris said, and then smiled.

"Yeah! She's also quite an introvert, so don't even try hurting her, or else you'll get possessed." I said.

Chris and Yuguwa were surprised that Meriku could possibly possess someone.. "What powers do both of you have?"

"It's a secret."

"A secret? That's awesome! Anyways, have a cup of tea, everyone!"

"Anyways… Why did you guys wake up early? It's only 2AM."

Yuguwa shrugged, then we all drank a cup of tea, and felt really refreshed, and ready for the uhhhhh… Dawn? All of us got out of the café, then walked to my apartment to discuss plans to take down their operation and survive. The door is surprisingly fixed.

"Anyone here had some of these guys breaking into your apartments?" I said.

"We all live in the same apartment! You could hear all the doors being broken, one by one." Yuguwa said.

"Yes! My door broken…" Chris said. "But… Me got disguise!" He suddenly got 4 children-sized outfits, it looks identical to the bad person's outfit I saw last night!

"H-how did you get them? And... Why did children work for them? Why did they have to… End up like this?" Meriku said, in concern.

"I-I have no idea, but… They're probably poor kids forced to do bad things…" I said.

"I'm worried…"
