Chapter ?: When
I surrendered a long time ago, didn't I.
Having myself stuck in this endless, dark afterlife. I don't remember when I came here.
A certain dimensional traveler had come here, and provided me with her discoveries. Her name, she refused to say. But she said that her grandmother was named Kasuri Mano.
It is not a familiar name at all, but it was sure something to think about, as to how many seconds, minutes, hours, days, even years, have gone by since my disappearance. I've never seen my city collapse. Yet, people showed me the collapse of my city.
I asked somebody about this... "Kasuri Mano".
Some say that she is alive and running an organization for interdimensional travelers.
Some say that she died just now, a few days ago.
It's a parallel universe, or truth and lies.
Many people believe on either of those information. It's quite easy to figure out what's going on.
I walked towards a path, lit by white-colored fire, but there was no one to see. No stars to shine, no suns to blind my eyes.
But who I found was myself. Magic was confirmed to be soul-bound. Someone must have opened a portal to another dimension.
I... died in that parallel universe.
"Are you me?"
"Yes. You already know my name, as I already know yours."
I frowned.
"Why did you surrender, me?" I said.
"Because time shall run without interference. What help does it give if I stop time all for myself? Would this be of any help for anybody?"
"No. That's exactly why I surrendered, too."
"Do you want to go back?"
"If it means I can live my life as a normal person."
"Why would you want to go back as a mere human?"
"After centuries, you might start to wonder about the lifestyle of humanity."
"Any other reason you want to go back, like, at all?"
I thought about it. The recent influx of people into this afterlife. People are dying in my side of The Void.
I sighed. I don't want to return, but I've changed my mind.
"I don't want to be useless anymore."
But when will I come back to life?
When will the other me come back to life, as well?
